Round Stake & Strand Basket – Thurs 15th September
Working with a mix of brown willow (bark on) and buff willow (bark stripped) when making baskets gives them a rather rustic appearance and texture. Different varieties of willow can be used to give some contrast in colour. At this full day workshop you will make a round stake and strand basket, weaving around upright stakes. Depending on your ability you may be able to add a handle.
Sunday 18th September – Framed basket or framed platter (full day)
Designing Flower Borders for Year Round Interest – Sat 8th October
Saturday 8th October
In these day long workshops local garden designer Michelle Wake will reveal the planting design process used by the professionals. She will explain a step by step approach that considers the many factors influencing the success of a planting scheme. Practical exercises will help you learn the approach so that you can apply your new planting design skills in your own garden. The beautiful planting in the Garden will be used to illustrate planting design principles and you will hear about the start performers of the season. By the end of the workshop you will have completed a planting design for a small border. Michelle will be happy to take questions about your own garden, if there is time, at the end of the day.
